The certification is offered in four modules. Each module delivers content through engaging videos, collaborative discussion groups, and knowledge-checking quizzes. Upon successfully completing the final examination, participants will receive an official Certificate of Completion.
Module 1
Introduction and Foundation
Introduction and Foundation
SchoolDay provides anonymized data, removing personal information before sharing only needed data with applications. It leaves just enough to create accounts and link them together.
Module 2
Identifying and Managing Data-Consuming Products
Identifying and Managing Data-Consuming Products
EdTech products that consume and use PII are abundant. First, you need to know what products are in use and where, how, and why they are being used. It is critical to know what data is consumed and how frequently. This module will introduce commercially available tools to help with this task.
Module 3
Moving Data Across the Ecosystem
Moving Data Across the Ecosystem
Data moves between applications using different methodologies, including Application Program Interface (API) and secure file transfer protocol (SFTP). This section reviews the advantages and disadvantages of these methodologies and different data exchange standards. It also looks at various third-party data-sharing service providers, the standards to which they conform, and the methods used by each.
Module 4
Managing and Monitoring Data Privacy
Managing and Monitoring Data Privacy
This module addresses steps you should take and tools to use to be aware of various changes in data sharing. Many state, regional, and other governing agencies require data privacy agreements (DPAs). This module looks at the different off-the-shelf DPAs that have been adopted by agencies. The DPA, itself, is not a method for ensuring data privacy. As a result, this module focuses on available tools that show how to track the ongoing sharing of PII routinely.
