School Day Collaborates with Helsinki University

School-Day-Collaborates-with-Helsinki-University

To kick off the fall term School Day team had a meeting with a group of wellbeing scientists at Helsinki University. Together with Katariina Salmela-Aro (Professor of Education at Helsinki University) and Ming-Te Wang (Professor of Education from the Motivation Center of the University of Pittsburgh) among others, we discussed the wellbeing phenomena and how to measure it, growth mindsets, and the definition of happiness in different cultures.

According to Professor Salmela-Aro more than half of the students in their recent studies reported feelings of stress, frustration, cynicism and burnout at schools today. We want to find out why and offer help. As Professor Wang pointed out, everyone can get better, wiser, and happier. Even a failure is an opportunity, we just need to intervene in the exact moment when a student is frustrated. School Day wants to support student wellbeing by providing the school staff real-time data and peer advice on how to deal with wellbeing issues at school.
