SCHOOL DAY RESEARCH

School Day Wellbeing Model is based on extensive research in Educational Psychology and Health Sciences. CONTENT RESEARCH

The content of the School Day Wellbeing Model relies heavily on the work of two internationally know Finnish scholars Anne Konu and Katariina Salmela-Aro. Together with them and their teams, we have been able to create a scientifically verified and internationally adaptable content for our Wellbeing Service. School Day collaborates with many educators, schools and universitites, mainly in Finland, the US and China.

Wellbeing

konu anne 2019The core for the School Day Wellbeing Model was formed on the basis of Anne Konu’s research in School Wellbeing. Anne Konu is a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health and a Docent of Social and Health Policy in the University of Tampere in Finland. In her dissertation in 2002 she presented her Wellbeing Model for schools. The model created by her team is used and verified with data collected from hundreds of thousands of students during more than 10 years, and widely referred to by researchers all over the world. She is a Google Scholar with more than 2000 academic references. With Anne Konu's help we have adopted the model the be the cornerstone of the content for the School Day Wellbeing Model. Read More

School Day Research Team

cycleSchool Day Research Team includes expertise in mathematics, data analysis, software achitechture, data privacy, UI/UX design and pedagogy. We develop AI modeling and automation in measuring, analysing and explaining student wellbeing by focusing on automation, self-adapting, self-learning and personalisation of the core operations of our AI. Our aim is to provide an intelligent, multidimensional model that is simple to use and updatable in the wake of new innovations. To this end we collaborate with Microsoft and universities in Finland, the US and China, the Research Program AI in Learning as well as individual researchers worldwide.

Research in Analytics

Together with our partners Microsoft and the University of Helsinki we study methods of intuitive visualisation, detection of phenomena and anomalies, predictive models and human and AI interaction.

Data Collection

Our most important data source is the Wellbeing App that also creates a safe channel and voice for holistic school wellbeing. At its core are the daily wellbeing questions and responses from students.

Efficient and safe handling of data is important, so that it can easily be made visible to all stakeholders. All our data is anonymous. Data from individual students cannot be accessed by anyone. We’re continuously developing our cloud architecture to capture and benefit the best potential from all new features.

AI Supports Decision Making

AI will not replace teacher nor school leader presence in the school community. However, machine learning can take care of mundane and routine work. By providing school leaders and teachers good quality and automated data, they can spend more time with students. Finding timely and actual phenomena out of large data masses is something that can be left to AI.
